There is no granular control over notifications. Either dont get any or get bombarded with 10+ daily. Tapping on notification of a particular news only opens the app’s home screen. You miss out the news article. I hope they fix it. Its been like this since past few months.

I subscribed, but all paywalled content is still blocked

Clicking on the notifications to read a specific article takes you to the home page, instead of that article. The issue was fixed but now itself back again.

Hindu has been a great source of news for me. With major news companies across the world already having apps for iPad, it is time for Hindu to follow suit, especially for paid customers. It completely changes the experience. Hope they do it soon.

Pathetic App! Even after subscribing to premium cannot open the paywall articles!

The app is just a stretched out version of mobile version.

User interface for iPad is similar to that of a phone. It doesn’t fit the entire screen of the iPad. Most other news apps does support enlarging the UI to fit the screen for iPad. Surprising to see most notable newspaper The Hindu doesn’t support this. I would suggest the tech team to look at the New York Times app in all the platforms and devices and also the Economic Times. It would be hard to retain even the most loyal users if the app is not designed to be usable across different devices long term. Accessibility ensures that the reader being able to access the content from different devices ensuring consistent and efficient experience.

The app installs and works on an iPad. However, the layout and user experience is not optimized and falls short. I hope the app developer releases a version that works better on tablet devices.

Please fix to go back to the previous screen in the app so that you can gently press on the screen and swipe right. This gesture is supported by most iPhone apps.

The latest update is not good. Bad scrolling experience.

Why does app not support dark mode on iPhone?

Glad to see the new updates to the mobile app. I wish there is an iPad app as well, but website works better on the browser, so not much missing.

This newspaper is just a mouth piece of the ruling DMK party in TN.

Whenever I tap any news, the app crashes. Very frustrating indeed. This problem has persisted for many years as per published reviews but nothing has been done so far. Every article link that I try to open the app crashes. Except for the premium articles.

For every article I open the app crashes. Impossible to read on it. The Hindu is my favourite newspaper but if this does not improve I’ll get my news elsewhere I suppose.

Downloaded on account of my love for the physical newspaper and its content. App needs to be fixed to be deemed usable

I used to like this app a lot but there are technical issues with this app. The technical team of THG is not doing their job well. There are a lot of advertisements, there is a bug in the app which makes the text of the news article disappear and the space is covered by advertisements which are just irrelevant.

I paid a subscription for the news but app quality is appalling.

For some reason the app crashes each time I open and try to view an article or news item published in the app. Even i subscribed three days ago for annual pass which is thus far not active and there is no place to find a contact to report these issues. Hope this review helps to address these issues. Thanks!

App crashes way too frequently. Poor

The app crashes every minute. I have to constantly reload the app. I have tried deleting and reinstalling. I have also updated to the latest version

App crashes often, after clicking a news link

With every second article I clicked on to read, the site crashed. It’s more frustrating than informative so 30 minutes after downloading it, I’m offloading it.

I had this app before then I deleted it because of user experience. Downloaded it again because all other news companies have only one agenda, tell you which Bollywood actor is wearing which cloth. Having same horrible experience again, app crashes on every article. You have to open it multiple times to get to any article. Just hard to imagine that company like Hindu can’t afford one decent programmer from the land of software engineers. Deleted this app again. I have received an update form development team that they are working on a new app. I am upgrading the rating to two stars. I will wait for the new app for now and I have deleted it because I can’t use it at all.

Title says it all! Crashes every time I open a new article.

Every time a news item is opened the app crashes. To read it, one has to reopen the app and open exactly that item again. If you want to read another news piece, you have to repeat the process: crash, reopen app, read the piece. Problem persists after deleting and reinstalling the app. It’s been over a month and with updates in between too. Getting quite tiring.

Gave 5 star for your news coverage but app has issue. Please fix it.

Great content. But unusable because the app keeps crashing. I use an iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Tapping headline to read the news in details crashes the app 💥. This happens for all headline for the first time, so I have to relaunch the app and tap on the same headline again to read the news. Hope to see this issue fixed soon. I really like the news content so sticking around for a while before I give up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars for the content which is much better the all other leading news 📰 👍

I like the Hindu and pay a premium . The app closes off right after I click on a article .
